TESTIMONIALS, REVIEWS & CRITICISM

Welcome now to: “THE WAYS OF BEING’S,” criticism, reviews, and testimonials page.  Where you can see and get an idea as to what some others have said about this Volume so far.
So far all from friends, who tend to rate this book somewhat higher than maybe it should be, due to their relationship with me.
Someday, I hope to hear from someone who dislikes it (this book) whose willing to attack it, for both its content and/or its poetic prowess, if not its very foundations, to gain another perspective from them if I can.  Since criticism and antagonism, are as it’s said, two of the best of our friends.
Nevertheless here is what the first have had to say:

“My brief but Heartfelt Comment: In this landscape of poems, author Leslie Howard launches us on a roller coaster sweep through our own human reality.  From nature-nurture, to things we believe, and hate. Is the reality inside or out there? Lots of questions. Arising on the potent iambic pentameter scheme.              I found great joy in chanting these sonnets aloud. Gets you into a rhythmic groove, but why does that somehow spice these spoken thoughts, so much better? Anirban Banerjee Ph.D.  Aurora Colorado.

   ALSO

This is a remarkable book. It’s an unusual but effective way to view our existential condition. It recognizes states of human being, seeing in them also the states of being of our animal, plant and mineral cohabitants of the planet. It’s a “make-you-think” book. Reading prose about something is one thing; reading poetry about it is a very different cognitive process – more demanding, and in its way, more engaging. I’m grateful for the opportunity to approach the subject in this way, and look forward to reading subsequent Volumes of the series as they become available.  Bill Carson, retired  computer tech professional Ft Collins Colorado.

Likewise from from another.
"These sonnets are out of this world (literally)! I have this feeling that I am not qualified to comment on them, but I will provide my trivial comments in time. You are like talking about electrons moving around at thousands of miles per hour in everything to people who were taught everything is solid, liquid or gas. The sonnets are mystical like Rumi or the Sufis. People will understand it at different levels depending on what level they are at."

From my former friend Steven.
"L. Howard’s poetry - many in the traditional sonnet form- evokes image, emotion, and questions from the inner mind. The artistry is rich, worldly, and erudite. The diversity of subjects the author writes about and the style of his performance provide a perspective of life’s experience and a vision that each reader will experience in his or her own way. From sadness to joy, every emotion is experienced. Rhyme and the free form of expression bring to the page to.  The author’s personal understanding and experience of life. "
